Rev. Marcus Van Vlake

Senior Pastor

A native South Carolinian, Marcus did his undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina School of Business in Columbia (BS 1994).  Before being called to ministry of the Word, he worked professionally in sales and management with Blanchard CAT for nine years and then owned a small retail business and was a licensed contractor.  After submitting to the Lord's call, while studying at Reformed Theological Seminary (MDIV 2011), Marcus served as ministerial intern at Bethel PCA and was ordained and served as Assistant Pastor at Bethel before the Lord called him away.  Marcus served the Lord's church as Senior Pastor of New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Manning, SC from 2012-2015 and is excited to be called back to Clover serving the Lord at Bethel Presbyterian Church.  Marcus and his wife Shelly have four children and enjoy time together with friends, recreational sports, hunting, camping, and being with the people of God to worship and serve Him together.

James Heard

Pastoral Intern

James was born and raised in Memphis, Tennesee, and he moved to South Carolina to attend Wofford College in Spartanburg, graduating in 2017.  While he was at Wofford, James was involved in the campus ministry of Reformed University Fellowship, and it is through that ministry that he met his wonderful bride Jillian.  James served as a summer youth intern at several churches around the South while he was in college, and through those internships, the Lord called him into service of the church. James will be continuing his education by pursuing an MDiv at Reformed Theological Seminary throughout his time at Bethel. James and Jillian both love to spend time in the outdoors, play board games, and be with friends.
